How it varies by air fryer

Cut matters most. Shoestring fries can finish 3–5 minutes early, while steak fries and wedges need longer.

Tips

  • Shaking halfway is the single most important step. Skip it and the bottom layer stays soggy.
  • Don’t pile them deep. Two smaller batches are often faster than one crowded one.
  • Salt right after cooking, while they’re hot, so it sticks.

Troubleshooting

  • Burnt edges, limp middle: the basket was overloaded. Cook less at a time.
